Kathy says: “I’ve sold produce on the Farmers Market my whole life, first with my dad who had an 80-acre farm in Ravenna. Then I married a farmer and we grew and sold produce from that farm until it sold in 1995. I now buy and sell produce from near and far. I have local farmers who grow vegetables and fruit for me and I also buy out of state products. I sell a large variety of herbs, fresh and dried, and homemade jams and cookies.”

Muma Fruit Farms
Our family has been privileged to be a part of the Muskegon Farmers Market for over 60 years. We have seen many changes in the Market over the years, from selling live chickens to the market you see today. My mother even cut her flowers to sell to give the money to the church.
Our farm has been in the family for over 3 generations. We farmed 200 acres of fruit with a small amount of vegetables. I am very aware of what pesticides to use. Food safety to me is a major factor. I am now semi-retired and spend the majority of time in Seney, Michigan in the U.P.

Volunteer Bob Fountain took a survey of fresh produce that was being sold at the Farmers Market on Saturdays May – December, 2009. The survey noted all produce being sold so that a historical record could be made of the what fresh fruits and vegetables were available throughout the market season. A chart of his results can be seen by clicking:
