Bridge CardThe Muskegon Farmers Market is continuing its Bridge Card/Project FRESH program during the 2011 season. To use your Bridge Card to purchase fresh produce and food-yielding plants, stop in at the Market Office. With your Bridge Card you can purchase tokens (wooden nickles) worth $1 each to spend with vendors displaying a “Bridge Cards accepted here” plaque. I was told that when you use your bridge card. That if you purchased a certain amout, then you would get extra tokens at no charge. Could you tell me if this is true. If it is how does it work. Thanks

Sorry to tell you, but this is not available at the Market. It is just one for one.

I have some tokens left over from last year. Can I still use those?

Yes, you can still use them.

I don’t understand the procedure of how to use the bridge card at the market. Would you please explain it? Does each vendor accept the card?

    Pamela,

For your convenience you may go to the Market office to obtain $1 tokens (they look like “wooden nickels”) to spend for eligible items such as food and plants that you will grow to produce edible food. In the office we will swipe your Bridge Card, let you enter your PIN and let you purchase as many $1 tokens as you need to spend. These tokens are good all season long. You spend the tokens instead of cash to make eligible purchases dollar for dollar. The vendors turn in the tokens they take in and receive reimbursement. Vendors who accept tokens display a sign that says they accept Bridge card tokens. That is the simple procedure we use for Bridge cards. Hope that answers your question.
